Marbella, in the province of Málaga in Andalucia, is a famous beach resort that is mentioned often in the society pages. Famous film stars and their retinue, European aristocrats and even Arab millionaires all seem to gravitate towards this sunny resort. From a sleepy village of 900 inhabitants in 1940, this town has really undergone some changes and is now a prosperous resort town of over 135000 people.

Alameda Park

Alameda Park is another place where you can sit down on the tiled benches and enjoy the peace and quiet of the park. If your visit is in the month of June you will be able to take part in the celebrations in honor of the patron saint of Marbella, San Barnabé. There is singing, dancing, and some really good music.

The Museum of Contemporary Spanish Prints or Museo del Grabado Contemporáneo is an art lovers dream. Here you can see some of the masterpieces of Picasso, Dalí and Miró. The building itself is a work of art. Formerly a sixteenth century hospital it is the ideal site for housing objects of beauty. There are many other galleries where you can look at sculptures, photographs and other objets d'art and bask in the variety of offerings to suit every taste.

Puerto Banús

Puerto Banús is known as the marina where the rich step from their yachts onto the waiting Ferraris or Rolls-Royce cars. Built by José Banús, the favorite builder of the dictator Francisco Franco, it has a huge 3 ton statue of a rhinoceros by Salvador Dalí, who created it for one of his surrealist films. Puerto Banús also has many pubs, discos, bars and entertainment sites for the people who have just left their yachts and for other tourists as well. If you prefer water sports there are dozens of clubs that offer all kinds of activities from water-skiing to diving.
